As per National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, 2018; major crime heads under ‘Crime Against Children’ during 2018 were kidnapping & abduction (44.2%) and cases under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 (34.7%) including child rape. West Bengal is 6th highest in crime against children and there were 6286 registered cases in 2018 which is 4.4% of the total case registered in the country. Out of 6286 registered cases, 2267 cases i.e. 36 % cases are being registered under POCSO Act, out of which, 1378 include penetrative sexual assault. West Bengal records 5.7% crimes under POCSO Act, which is 4th highest in the country.


Under this project till date, 120 sessions are being conducted in 44 schools where children from nursery to class XII participated, also 39 sessions were conducted with the parents of the children. Till date, a total of 7646 children and parents have attended the sessions.
